My new Xpole
My new digs... Dancing at my grand-mother's old house, it is now empty save for my pole, a yoga mat and my Yamuna balls. The new pole was still pretty slick when this was recorded in May 2009, I had no leg holds at all but I pretty much got all of my tricks back now. It is a 50mm, just under 2inches Chrome X pole and I had a 45mm, 1.75inches stainless steal Platinum Stages and the difference is huge. Pole texture plays a large part in friction. I never had sweaty hands with my stainless steel pole & I would see a lot of girls wiping their hands on their shorts in the middle of combos for grip and I now understand why... Chrome!!! That is my major concern with my new X. I know I may get a few hisses for saying it but I think Platinum Stages' Stainless is a way better pole for control/grip, though a minus is that it takes longer to warm up and you have no grip until it does. Another difference is the spin, X pole has a more natural spin while PS, I think, may be modeled after centrifuge technology, lol! I was almost thrown from my pole into the walls a few times :0 I have never danced on a Brass nor a powder coated pole so I have no basis for comparison there. Please, let me know if you agree or not with my comments, discussion is good as we all have different body chemistry and what's good for me isn't necessarily a universal truth! VERY 1st time on my NEW 'Xpole Xpert' Spinning Pole!
Oh my! I don't know where to begin! Here is my 1st invert & a couple of spins on the new pole. This is also a 45ml vs the standard size of 50ml that my others pole were. This is my VERY FIRST spinning pole that I have ever been on. I was on one once that had a rod in the center (so not a true spinning pole) so the pole moved only with your weight. This is a true spinning pole & I can definitely see the danger involved (its harder to hold onto a pole that is spinning at a good pace - so you have to be extra careful & not spin so fast you lose control of your grip) I will have to adjust how I execute my moves & learn what to do to slow down the spin if I get moving to fast. Its a whole other animal. It gets going like the old tiltawhirl from the old carnival days ~lol! Seriously, this will take some getting used to! I think it will be awhile before I will be performing any full song dances! The pole feels solid, secure, its smooth against my skin, & I really do like it, no regrets on changing poles but am disappointed in the "spin" mode, I had no idea it would be like it is... but it is whole other animal - I just have to change up how I go into all my tricks, spins & moves. All that said, I do think it will take me to the next level in my pole work & once I learn different execution of things hopefully I will be able to create a graceful & elegant flow to my moves. Jenyne Butterfly Performance with Polenastics, X-Pole and Pole Dance Academy Dec 09
Polenastics and X-Pole were honoured to host Jenyne Butterfly on her first UK tour with Deb Riley and The Pole Dance Academy. Jenyne was such an incredible instructor, powerful, patient instructor and so approachable. We held a 3 hour master class and the students were blown away with her skill and ability. All the students left with brand new moves and some brilliant tips for those 'pain in the ass' moves they were struggling with. We also held three 121 private lessons and we had such fantastic feedback from those students - everyone who attended the day was enthralled with Jenyne and simply LOVED the experience.
